2016 Cross Country at Rabbit Island

Yet again we had a fabulous day for our annual cross country at Rabbit Island.

make it "Click"

Today we had a visit from Ronald MacDonald. He bought us a message about Road Safety. In particular,  he made sure we would...Look and Listen before we used our feet to cross the street. He also urged us to remember to click on our seat belt as soon as we get in a car.
Ronald was very funny and the children were very well entertained as he told his message.

Celebrating Cultures

Our topic this term is learning about different cultures around the world.  Some of our own parents are going to come in and talk to us about their own upbringing in different countries. We were lucky today to have Charlotte come and talk about the time she lived in Spain...Wow, I want to go there!
It was very interesting. The children were treated to a range of photos and video clips showing life in Spain. So much to talk about. From what we saw.....Spain is a very colourful, exciting country. Thank-you Charlotte for taking the time to come in.

Maths- Measurement

We have been learning how to measure length using non standard units.
We found out that the unit we use to measure with should be the same size and that we need to have each unit touching each other in order to get a really accurate measurement.

Welcome back to school for Term 2...
It sounds like all the children had a great couple of weeks off and spent some fun times with friends and family.
This term during our visual art sessions we will be looking at different ways of making prints. Our first lesson this week was on using leaves. We painted the rough side of the leaf then placed it paint-side down onto black paper, this was repeated until we had a nice arrangement of leaf prints. Then we used small sponges with bright colours to fill in the gaps.
They all turned out quite beautiful don't you think?
